Linux HCL - optical drive and HDD

    Hello everybody,

I'm building a new system and wants to run any Linux (SuSe, Debian would be fine) instead of Windows.
Sadly I couldn't find an up-to-date Linux HCL. Does anybody knows one?

Primary goal is to find a SATA CD/DVD drive/burner and a valueable HDD (1 - 2 GB, SATA)
Can anybody give me a tip which HW is compatible?

Currently I have the following hardware:
    Mainboard: Gigabyte Z77-DS3H
    CPU: Intel Core i5 - 3570K
    RAM: 2 x 4 GB Kingston HyperX PC3-12800 (1600 MHz) DDR3-RAM
SSD: Samsung 840 Series All-in-One Installation Kit internal SSD-HD 120GB (2,5 Zoll), 256MB Cache, SATA III)
Graphics: onboard (intel HD Graphics 4000) optionally: AMD Radeon HD 7870 OC 2048MB, Sapphire
Power Supply: Be quiet BQT L7-350W Pure Power PC-Netzteil 350 Watt
Has anybody information about trouble with this HW and Linux?

    Thanks for your support

    Thanks for your response.

Meanwhile I've built the following system:
    Sharkoon T9 Value blue edition
Be quiet BQT L7-350W Pure Power PC-Netzteil 350 Watt
    Gigabyte GBT GA-Z77-DS3H Mainboard Socket 1155 Z77 4x DDR3 ATX
    Intel Core i5-3570K Quad-Core Processor (3,4GHz, Socket 1155, 6MB Cache, 77 Watt)
    Arctic CPU Cooler Freezer XTREME Rev. 2 (1366 1155 1156 775 FM1 AM3+ AM3 AM2+ AM2 939 754)
    Kingston HyperX PC3-12800 RAM 8GB (1600 MHz, 240-polig) DDR3-RAM Kit
Samsung 840 Series All-in-One Installation Kit internal SSD-Drive 120GB (6,4 cm (2,5 Zoll), 256MB Cache, SATA III) anthrazit
    WD WD20EARX 8.9cm (3.5") 2TB HDD SATA3 64mb Green
DVR SATA Plextor PX-891SA black Retail
    OS: Linux openSUSE 12.2

Everything is working fine. Just the onboard LAN wasn't recognised by YaST automatically and must be installed and configured.

System runs stable, fast and with verly less power consumption (30-32W standard, max. 71W)
    Boot time: 8 sec.
Duration of OS installation: 8 min.
