Makefile error

Hope to get help with this. I have a desktop with Qimo installed and I purchased a Powerlink USB wifi adapter. I followed the directions from the vendor and after running makefile first time, I had to create a directory. Running again I get the following:

Entering directory /lib/modules/2.6.32-45-generic/build
*** no rule to make target 'modules'. Stop
Leaving directory /lib/modules/2.6.32-45-generic/build

[modules] Error 2

I have included the makefile. Thanks in advance for any help.
