    Simple file server

    Hello, I am wanting to do a simple file sever on my lan I have an old Pentium 4 box that I want to use. I am looking for something that I can use from linux boxes an windows boxes what distro's and applications would you recommend? Thanks

    I'd give CentOS, Ubuntu a try.
    I'm sure the sharing files part is pretty easy to configure.

    I would install CentOS and run Samba. You can then create a specific directory on the server and share that directory out with Samba and apply different access level in a per user or group basis.
