I am not sure if I am going to upgrade. 12.04 works fine for me and from what I understand, 12.10 has no major improvements.

How easy is the upgrade process on ubuntu, I wonder.

Can you do it while being sure your files will be preserved? I have a ubuntu machine with about 1TB of important stuff on it. I would like to update but don't want to have to take all of that off first.

I know there was a very persistent crashing bug in the beta released in September.
