    change webcam resolution in VLC

    Hi,

I'm quite new to linux and find myself in a sutuation that I need to get video from a webcam in Pure Data. I have a usb microscope which I'm able to open in PD, but only at the lowest resolution. So, someone told me to open it in VLC, change the resoltion there and to pull out the usb-cable fastly for the settings to be stored in the cam.

But I don't seem to manage to open the cam at different resolutions in VLC. Each time I try to open it with different values I get something like:

v4L2 demux error: invalid tuner 0
v4L2 demux error: cannot get video input characteristics (invalid argument)

v4L2 access error: invalid tuner 0
v4L2 access error: cannot get video input characteristics (invalid argument)

v4L2 main input error: open of 'v4l2:///dev/video0' failed: (null)

I work with pure dyne 9.11

    Does anyone have an idea?

    Grtz,

    David
