I am very happy to see that Linux Mint is taking hold of the XFCE environment. I currently use Xubuntu and I can admit I fell in "love" with XFCE. The environment is lightweight and incredibly fast, however you still have the ability to customize and do what you want with it, without have a huge impact on performance. I am eager to see where this version is going and it's development over time!
