How do I edit my grub config file? I need to change which OS is selected by default, and I can't figure out how to edit it. I do remember it was a command that I typed in the terminal last time I...

Who else is excited for Ubuntu 12.10?
I'm really looking forward to the Unity improvements and better performance.
What about you?
-
You're actually one of the few people I know who prefer KDE, everyone else seems to like Gnome or super minimalist desktop evironments.
-
Actually, a lot of Debian repositories are interchangable. That's part of why Debian distros are so awesome in my opinion.
-
I don't think he was implying that Ubuntu was Debian, but was most likely just providing facts for those who didn't know that Ubuntu was derived from Debian.
-
Ubuntu's great, I think you'll like it a lot. When I found it I was so happy, I had tried so many distros before finding it.
-
Yes, Lubuntu uses LXDE so it would most likely run pretty snappy on that computer.
-
It's using a modified version of Gnome 2, but others are also available.
The developer has changed deep system stuff to make it faster. Not sure about the technical side.
-
I have no idea. I wouldn't use it if I were you since it's essentially a dead browser.
IIRC it was Windows only, that might be your issue.
-
Ah I see. I still prefer Ubuntu though :P
Thanks for the recommendation of customizing Debian.

Flock was a web browser based on Gecko which is the same engine Firefox uses. It was a lot like Rockmelt if you know what that is, meaning it had a lot of social stuff built-in. I didn't like it that...

Adonis is big because it has a lot of packages included with it. Right now my favorite thing about it is the speed, it seems to be faster than other distros I've tried.
-
It most likely will, it's a web server so it work well with Webmin. You might want to check that online though.
-
nginx is indeed free, it's litespeed you have to pay for. I hear all three (Apache, nginx, litespeed) are pretty stable when configured properly.
-
I'd personally want something with more stuff, Puppy is too minimal for my tastes. And I'd install it on the netbook's hard drive as well, not a pendrive :)
-
What's the best Netbook distribution in your opinion?
Even after Ubuntu and Ubuntu Netbook Remix merged, I still think Ubuntu is pretty great for netbooks. What about you? Do you prefer something...

I use Chrome and I'm having no problems uploading images to eBay. Firefox has been extremely buggy with the latest flash update so maybe it's time to switch to Chrome.
-
You're welcome, nyxcharon on Computer Forum is the guy behind it, and I've been following development for the past few weeks :)
-
I wouldn't completely trust results provided by the makers of Litespeed :P But thanks for the articles.

Apache is good for small sites but I heard nginx is much faster for high-traffic sites.
By the way, W3CTC actually made my WordPress sites slower, and cached things like the admin bar, which made...

You used to be able to run Linux on a PS3 but Sony removed that feature in an update :(
-
Try Chrome, I highly recommend it. I really hate Firefox with a passion, it's laggy on any computer I've used it on, the UI is terrible, and they really don't innovate with it.
Another good choice...

I know I'm one of the few, but I actually like Ubuntu's Unity. It's really nice, and I love the sidebar.
I also like GNOME 3.
-
Distros I've liked include Ubuntu, which I use as my primary distro, OpenSUSE, which I used to use as my primary, Mint, which is pretty darn awesome but I prefer Ubuntu, PepperMint, CrunchBang,...
-
I've heard a lot about nginx. A few things I heard include that when properly configured it's faster than litespeed, which is shocking to me because litespeed is pretty darn fast.
