I know a fair amount about programming, but not enough about Linux. Long story short, I made the mistake of buying a computer with win8 on it. The laptop that I have makes it very difficult to take it off and replace with anything else.

My questions is, how well does Linux work with virtual machines? And if it works well, is there a particular virtual machine that I should download to use?
