I think there's too many bot threads on this forum. I'm talking about the news threads by Fred that are posted so often. It really doesn't make the forum look good in my opinion as most of our content seems to be from that bot and I'm having a hard time finding the actual member-generated content.
I would like Fred to be removed if that's possible, to be frank. It just doesn't make the forum look good with false content :/

Fred Is most likely a paid to post account that is botted so the user can make money on autopilot. I know because I am too but I'm only doing this out of pure interest however. I also agree this forum have this account removed from their database.
He just reposts news items from lxer.com ... I was going to go in and limit his daily posts today but didn't have a chance..
I agree he posts too much

Yeah that's a waste of a perfectly good post. Every time he does that he is pretty much spamming. I bet he's just trying to build some rep or something a few people do things like that. I hate when I get something I can just go read somewhere else. I think a post limit would be the proper way to handle this user. It would be a small wake up call rather than permanent deletion of his account which is a little bit unfair to do without warning.
Heh.. no, he's part of the site.. we control him..
The way lxer works, you can syndicate their news, and it will point right to the source of the news instead of back to lxer.com. Picture it like we're posting linux news in the section that fred posts in. :)
I did slow him way down though the other day..

Well I still don't like him being here. In my opinion, it's the members that should be contributing all the posts, not bots.
He's posting news in the news section - I like him. It saves me from posting the same things in the news section.
I mean, news bots are good to a certain point, but right now it's overkill.

I don't see the reason in why people use bots on forums anyways. I mean, what good does it do for them? All it does is hurt the forum, but the people that are using the bots gain almost nothing out of it.

It was a good bot, meaning it didn't really spam the forums to advertise. It spammed to post news :P
I don't like news bots on forums anyway, it really makes the forum look like it has fake activity.

I don't find much of a problem with the Bot making posts in the News forum, the forum looks fine and i'm glad it's regularly updated with News i don't often get to hear about from viable sources.
I'm guessing the bot could be tuned to post less often if some find it distracting. But i'm fine with it :)

I made some research at forums topics and noticed that there is really few topics what you can see that they are maid by bots, but about 99,5% of topics are from real people :)

Bots in Forums are never a good idea. I don't like this concept. When you have a extra Page that is isolated of the Forum, maybe. But for me it's annoying Spam. Agree with Lucasbytegenius.

Interesting. I would have never guessed that someone who posts news items would be considered spamming. I guess I will keep that in mind and refrain from posting any articles here.

Nah - you won't be considered a spammer..
I had a news bot automatically posting up news as an aggregator. That's what they're talking about - he would post a lot each day :)

I was just thinking. Shouldn't forums only involve humans? I mean, the purpose of forums I think is for people to think together and come up with mutual ideas. Just a thought though...

I agree. Bots shouldn't take all the fun away from us :( :P

I think I am coming in a bit late. Still, as a responsible member of the community, I am obliged to put in my two bahts worth. Here's my take on the matter.
I hate it!
Just a couple of lines. Then have to click on 'more' to get to a site where I have to click again on 'more' to read what it's all about. This is not AI. It's ASS - Artificially Simplistic Stupidity. I suggest nuking it unless it can be tweaked to be more informative.
Rant over.
Thank you for your patience.

i also, see her posts, it looks that ive see them in the other forums recently.. i hope that the admin or moderator would fix that soon.
We've been lessening the amount of news posts with our aggregator program.. it's currently off - so let's see more posts to make up for it! ;)
